This timeless story never fails to captivate and revive the holiday spirit, and it's a great way to experience exceptional classical ballet and contemporary dance. Enjoy an eclectic performance that explores themes such as joy, determination, and community. This spring, the Carolina Ballet Theater will present TangoFusion, an impressive dance choreographed by the internationally renowned Hernán Justo.
Professor Matthew Harvey is reinterpreting this complex work for students, and other faculty choreographers will present new dances. A selection of student choreographies will complete what promises to be a rich and exciting performance. The Colorado Ballet will also perform The Nutcracker for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, on the autism spectrum, and with other sensory sensitivities. The Colorado Ballet will be accompanied by its orchestra that will perform Tchaikovsky's impressive arrangement live.
The eleventh season of the Centennial State Ballet is titled Strength, Elegance and Passion in honor of the company's anniversary. In addition to The Nutcracker, you can enjoy your favorite holiday songs throughout the season at local Christmas concerts of all styles. Enjoy food, drinks, and desserts while singing your favorite country songs with a little holiday cheer thanks to Colorado artists like Cody Cozz, Exit West, and Christmas storytelling by special guest Matt Heard. It will be performed by more than 140 children, pre-professional dancers and guest artists, and will be presented by the Littleton Youth Ballet, which is Littleton's only non-profit youth ballet company. Western ballet companies began performing The Nutcracker in the 1940s, making it a Christmas favorite. The Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Orchestra offers its annual holiday celebration concert at the Pikes Peak Center, with holiday classics, traditional carols and festive fun.
